Christmas
Now Christmas is over and my bank account has dropped significantly. With a family to buy Christmas presents for, and no job--it hasn't been easy.
I don't know what I should do when I go back to school. I think I may need to get a job if i want to go shopping or on any vacations.
It is sad that my break is coming to and end so quickly. I feel like our school was jipped because almost every other school is home til the end of January.
Hopefully I will have classes to go to when iI go back to college in a few weeks because I'm starting to get nervous.

No Classes Still
With no answer in the college office-- and emails forwarded to an out of office reply--,it is impossible to get reach anyone in the education program.
Being 100's of miles away, I can't do anything about how awful and unorganized this approval has been. I knew this would happen even though they promised this wouldn't be a problem.
Many people still have not been able to sign up for the rest of their classes and I start school in a week and a half!!! This break was supposed to be a time to relax and not have to worry about school...

Resolutions
I really don't like New Year's resolutions. I feel like they are static, unattainable goals. It's so easy to say "I'm going to get out of debt this year" or "I am going to lose weight."
I have been sitting and thinking of my goals, and I propose instead of once-a-year vagueries, people should create measurable and attainable goals.
My top resolution is to get rid of my credit card debt and reestablish better balanced spending habits. Granted, getting my loan check in a few weeks will make that more possible.

The 305.
So I'm back in South Florida, reppin' the 305 (Miami can bring out the gangster in all of us) and so far winter break has not let me down. Christmas is just a few days away and I'm most definitely in the Christmas spirit. I've finished with my holiday shopping, but buying Christmas presents this year was not an easy task. I've been baking cookies galore, had many a fun night with my friends, and made tons of memories that I wont forget.
p.s. I figured out my major... Goodbye undecided, hello Political Science!

Sooo done!
I finished everything. Done with finals. Done with papers. Done with school, until next semester that is. I finished this semester with all A's and B's, which I am ecstatic about, but next semester is going to be a much heavier work load... UGH! I'm going to actively try and NOT think about next semester until January 7th rolls around. Right now I'm focussing on my lovely winter break. Sunny south Florida here I come!
Although I'm totally excited about seeing the Fam and hanging out with all of my old friends, I'm definitely going to miss all of my new friends in Tampa :( but I'll see them soon enough.

Winter Break
Winter break is in full effect, and I am using my extra time to get myself back on my gym and healthy eating routine. Next semester is my last one, and it's going to be stressful because of comps. I found that exercise this semester really helped me get through the stress of crunch time (and I ended up with a 3.7 GPA, so I must have done something right.)
This break I also want to get my study guides together for comps so I dont have to stress myself out as much over the semester.

Final Paper
Just as I assumed, I've just finished all of my work for the end of the semester EXCEPT the big paper that I have due. I'm sitting here at my computer trying to force myself to start it. I'm not really sure why I dislike writing school papers so much, seeing that I actually do enjoy writing. Maybe its the fact that I'm told to write about a specific subject matter rather than having the freedom to write what I want.
These past two weeks seem to have dragged on for a while, and I'm really looking forward to finishing the paper and finally being done with the semester. After that, its only one more semester of college.

Finished!
I am done with classes! I'm going into my final semester, and admittedly, am starting to feel a bit of "senioritis" again.
But regardless I am looking forward to it. Especially as it seems I may be able to work events as part of my assistantship instead of just doing administrative work.

Home
Finally I'm home and although my break is much shorter than other schools, I am so happy to be done with school. It's such a stress lifted off my shoulders. I still have lots of Christmas shopping to do, and have been frequently awaiting my grades to be posted. While 3 are up, I have to wait for them all to be posted so I can be accepted into the education program at school. With only 3 classes registered for next semester iIneed to sign up for the rest in my program as soon as possible. This makes me nervous because the classes may be filled up before I can try to sign up...

Final Two Weeks
The final two weeks of the semester are by far the most stressful. It seems that students from all schools have the same mentality of stress, sleep deprivation, and overall irritability.
It doesn't matter how many times I tell myself not to throughout the semester, I end up always procrastinating on certain assignments. These last two weeks are no different.
Between papers, projects, and preparation for senior reviews, I'm certain that the last thing I'll be working on will be a long paper that I've been dreading. I'm trying to put stress aside and just force myself to do the assignments one by one
. I'll be very happy, to say the least, when I'm finished with the last assignment: most likely a paper that I'd spent all night on.

Blending Theory With Reality
I had my internship review today, and it went really well! It is nice to know that real practitioners think I am on the path to success
. It's always great to hear that from friends or professors, but when actual people in the industry have faith, it's an awesome feeling.
I am also excited because I am going to start doing analysis of survey results and present them, AND I am researching the value of internet video and other new media for my internship (which is conveniently going to be the focus of my independent study next semester.)
I get to write up the proposal to launch video and other forms of new media on our internet media center, and my research will be the start of the white paper. How awesome!

Academic Life
It's funny how you change during school. This time last year, the idea of having two papers due the same day as two back-to-back finals would have had me so stressed that I would not have slept for days, and I would have procrastinated everything until the last minute as a result. Now, the evening before my day of doom (as I affectionately call it) I am blogging between studying for classes. And I think it's more effective because my brain does not feel like mush.
Back to studying! Good luck everyone!

Finals
While finals started Friday, my last one is actually
Monday.
Although teachers are not allowed to schedule finals during our last week of classes they still do. I have been studying for hours and hours this past week and cant wait to finally have a clean break from schoolwork. My winter break is not as long as other schools, but I still have close to a month off. I am
so excited to fly home but
with my most difficult final at 8 AM on Monday it looks like i will be staying in the next 2 nights. After that, I have a flight back and a huge
weight lifted off my shoulders! I cant wait for
Monday to be over.

Nothing Gets My Car Cleaner Than A Paper Due
I joined a group on facebook called "nothing gets my room cleaner than a paper due tomorrow." well that's typically the case in my world, but today I wrote one paper at school, came home and was about to start another when i decided it's a nice enough day today to wash my car instead.
I swear sometimes I have to stop and clean what's around me to keep the spark going, especially during finals.... what is your momentary distraction during finals?

Going Home.
This is going to be the first time that I've been home since I started college. I'm really excited to see my family and friends. It's going to be a blast. Hopefully Miami will be HOT because I cannot take this cold weather anymore. It's like 60 degrees, EVERYDAY. I know to some people that is anything but cold, but I'm from the sub-tropics and 50-60 degrees is the coldest it ever gets. It also never stays cold. I've been perpetually frozen for the past couple months and I am not liking it at all. Please be warm. Please be warm. PLEASE BE WARM.

I'm Done, Kind Of.....
My last class was yesterday. Unfortunately my winter break can't start until next Thursday. I have two finals on Wednesday, which also happens to be my birthday. Bummer, but what can you do? Hopefully my birthNIGHT wont be ruined by the fact that most people have finals the next day. Sigh.
I guess my life for the next week is going to be spent study, study, studying. I must say that is the worst/most necessary part of college. I also find it weird that I've actually finished all of my text books. That was a rarity in high school. I feel like I'm actually learning all that I'm supposed to be learning in my classes.

Exercise
Exercise seems to be one thing that works as a guide in keeping up a productive routine. The worst thing is waking up, knowing that I have an unbelievable amount of work to do, but not having the motivation to start any of it. I've found that exercise is something that boosts my energy and awareness.
Sometimes I literally have to force myself to do some type of exercise. But simply doing some pushups and sit-ups right when I wake up gives me a very energetic start to the day, allowing me to stay clear of sitting around and being lazy.
This is especially important right now, towards the end of the semester. With finals, reviews, and projects that are due in the next 2 weeks, I need to keep my energy level high.
