grades
I am lucky this semester because I really don't have midterms. Instead I have three exams in both my classes, plus presentations, and then two papers for my internship. So these past two weeks have been really busy, both with my internship and preparing for exams.
Since I recently quit my retail job, I have changed my study habits. I don't necessarily study more, but I have more time during the day, instead of cramming at night, and as I get my grades back, I am seeing A's instead of B's.
It's interesting, because we all talk about work/school/life balance, but I never realized how much of an impact it makes until now.
I also have time to go see the 'canes play football. Always a bonus!
(gooooooooooooo C A N E S Canes!)

I love studying-- Just kidding.
So, I have my first exam Monday and I'm feeling nervous. It's for my American History class and that means I've got to know my facts. Compared to the majority of college exams, it's a pretty small one based off the amount of materials that are being covered-- I've only got to learn four chapters. Although, with the subject of history every page of every chapter has important information that needs to be learned. Fortunately, I've been pacing myself. I've been studying a little bit each night for the past couple of weeks.
In high school, my middle name was procrastination and I was not about to take that name with me to college. I think that learning to not procrastinate until the day before the exam was definitely a revelation for me. In the past, when I would procrastinate until the last possible moment I would feel overwhelmed and just give up all together. It's definitely not an option to give up in college. Pacing myself has allowed me time to actually comprehend the information I've studied and has taken the stress that I used to feel away.
Well, I'm off to the library to study some more!

Less Homework, More Studying
I was always able to make good grades without really trying. So, I never really
had to study in high school and being in college has been a bit of a shock. At first glance, it seems as if there is less homework in college than there was in high school, but studying and reading take up most of my time. Even though homework assignments in high school were tedious, they were simple. When studying you have to understand and remember all the important things that you've read. You even have to gauge what the important things are versus unimportant banter.
I knew that I was going to be doing a lot of studying in college and it definitely hasn't let me down. Not only is there less of those simple but tedious assignments, but there are less tests. I'm going to be taking my first college exams in a week and I'm extremely nervous. If I fail, I doubt there will be any redemption. This is why I've been keeping up with all my reading and have already begun studying. Considering I have most of my tests on the same day, keeping up with my school work has helped ease my work load and will hopefully help me do well on the exam. Wish me luck!
